Healing eczema with goats milk
Goat’s milk soap is often recommended for managing eczema due to its natural moisturising properties and gentle ingredients. Here’s how to use goat’s milk soap to help with eczema:
1. Choose the Right Soap:
- Look for Pure Goat’s Milk Soap: Ensure the soap is made from 100% goat's milk with minimal additives. Avoid soaps with fragrances, dyes, or harsh chemicals, as they can irritate sensitive skin. We recommend our plain bar.
- Our plain bar only consists of; RAW Goats milk, coconut oil, olive oil pomace, shea butter, castor oil and sodium hydroxide to solidify the oils. The soap is left to cure for 6 weeks so the sodium hydroxide will not affect the skin.
2. Patch Test:
- Before using goat’s milk soap extensively, do a patch test on a small area of skin to ensure you don’t have an allergic reaction.
3. Gentle Cleansing:
- Wash Gently: Use lukewarm water and avoid hot water, which can dry out the skin further. Lather the soap in your hands and gently cleanse the affected areas without scrubbing.
4. Moisturising:
- Follow Up with Moisturiser: After washing, pat the skin dry with a soft towel and apply a fragrance-free moisturizer to lock in moisture. Goat’s milk soap can be hydrating, but it’s essential to follow up with a good moisturiser.
5. Frequency of Use:
- Use Regularly: Incorporate goat’s milk soap into your daily bathing routine. However, monitor your skin's response and adjust frequency as needed.
6. Consult a Dermatologist:
- Professional Guidance: If your eczema persists or worsens, consult a dermatologist for tailored advice and potential treatments.
Benefits of Goat's Milk Soap for Eczema:
- Moisturising Properties: The natural fats in goat's milk help hydrate and soothe dry skin.
- Nutrient-Rich: Goat's milk is rich in vitamins and minerals, particularly vitamin A, which can promote skin healing.
- Gentle on Skin: It has a pH level similar to human skin, making it less likely to irritate.
Note:
While goat’s milk soap can help soothe eczema, it may not work for everyone. Results can vary, so it's important to listen to your skin and adjust your skincare routine accordingly.
